My Fitness Journey

My fitness journey has helped me feel confident in so many ways!

Fitness is a major part of my lifestyle. It’s more than just an obligation for me; it’s something I can’t live without! Of course I do exercise for the physical benefits, but it also makes me feel confident, less anxious, and just happier overall.

I’ve been pretty active my whole life. I played basketball and was on the swim team in middle school, and in high school I ran track! My specialties were the 100m and 200m races. When I went to college I still tried to workout pretty consistently. But once I graduated and started working a 9-5, I had trouble fitting exercise into my busy schedule. I didn’t want to wake up early, and the last thing I wanted to do after a long day of working was go to the gym. However I quickly realized how important it was to make fitness a priority in my life. My energy wasn’t the same, I wasn’t as happy, I was more anxious, and I didn’t feel as confident. I knew I couldn’t look like or be my best self if I wasn’t working out regularly.

I started returning to fitness slowly. I went to my local gym about three days a week after work. Even on the days I was exhausted, I reminded myself that the effort was worth the result. Eventually I was ready to take my journey to the next level, and got a trainer!

Now I routinely work out 4-5 days a week. I do a combination of different types of exercise to keep it fun, interesting, and challenging! Two days a week I work with my trainer, MichaelMyersFit, and in between I'll use my GorJessFit Ebook as a reference, along with Pilates! Pilates is great to do in between because my workouts are usually "HIIT" using a lot of heavy weight. Pilates gives my workouts a nice balance. I use minimal weight during Pilates, and it helps to tone and stretch my muscles!

I always tell other women that yes, I exercise to look good, but most of all it makes me feel good. My goal isn’t necessarily to look like other women on Instagram (even though the temptation to compare still arises), but it’s to look and feel like my personal best self.

I hope this encourages you to put yourself first and make fitness a priority in your life too. I promise you won’t regret it!

xx,
Jessica
