1. Name and where you are from:Hello, My name is Jacobi or Cobi as I’m also known as. I’m from a little town called Neptune, New Jersey nut currently reside in Somerset NJ.2. Tell us about yourself! I have received my Masters in HR management and recently got engaged. Since my engagement, I have really being pursing my hair and fashion career. I have been doing a lot of natural hair styles in the area and sewing projects. Building an empire with my talents! CobiCoilz and CobiCreationz3. How long have you been natural?I got one perm in about six grade and stopped immediately because of the burning. I have been natural since then, but I straighten my hair on a weekly basis to have the silky straight look. No one even knew I was natural. I decided to embrace my natural texture when I started sweating every day from working out and stepping with my sorority. I was nervous of my texture and how to manage it. Because of the heat damage, I started to just slowly cut off a little hair at a time. I became a born again natural and I LOVEEEEEEEEE it.photo-44. How would you describe your hair? What does it meant to you?Hmmmm my texture is confusing, it is a mixture of 4a, 4b, and 3c. The front is looser than the back and the sides just do its own thing. My hair has a mind of its own, I just learn to embrace it. I have to handle each part differently. Joys of natural hair. NEVER boring! Hair mean a lot to me! It’s the way I express my personality, mood, and attitude from day to day. My hair has sparked soooo many conversation, stares, and a business that I thoroughly enjoy.5. What is your natural hair regimen (including the products you use)? My regimen consists of weekly 8 hour deep conditioning session with Aunt Jackie Curls & Coils In Control Anti-Poof Moisturizing & Softening Conditioner or homemade conditioner and co washing with Tresemme naturals. I rarely use shampoo unless I have a lot of buildup, when I do I use Shea Moisture Thickening Shampoo. As far as my leave in, I alternate between kinky kurly knot today and Giovanni Direct Leave. I then set my hair with Shea Moisture enhancing smoothie or QP elastic mango butter and I seal with coconut oil, olive oil or jojoba (whatever I can get on my hands on). Every week after I pamper it with the DC, I alternate between twist outs and up dos. When I wear my twist outs, I rock the twist during the work week and then on the weekend I make it either funky or edgy. I put in a high wild bun, braided head band, or I just throw on a dope turban.photo-116. How do you retain your length and keep your hair healthy?I retain length and keep my hair healthy by protecting my ends, not neglecting my natural hair, changing it up every once in a while, not over manipulating and drinking water.7. What is protective styling? Protective styling is essentially styling your hair in such a way that ends are tucked and protected — is an effective way to retain length in a relatively short amount of time. But moderation is the key to most things in life, and protective styling is no different! The main goal with natural hair is to protect your hair from over-manipulation. I protective style because I’m a lazy and always on the go naturalista! I need a vacation sometimes from my hair, it’s a break from doing your hair every day and it important to pick protective styles that are dope and even versatile.photo-418. What is your favorite style? Organize Chaos9. Who is your hair crush? My ULITMATE hair CRISH is Laila…you can find her on Instragm at @neffyfro and youtube @fusionofcultures. Her hair is just so thick and amazing!10. What are your favorite natural hair styles? My Fav Go-to Style is a High Bun with big chunky earrings. I mist my hair with water, olive oil, and Glycerin Mix, Leave in conditioner and Eco Styler Gel. I secure it with a regular black shoe string and bobby pins. Sometimes I will even put the bun to the side of my head. What I love about buns are that they don’t have to be perfect.11. What is the greatest lesson you’ve learned during your natural hair journey? Greatest challenges that have turn into lessons are to be gentle and combat dryness. I always do my hair when I’m rushing to go somewhere, which causes me to take my hair and rip though my tangles instead of being gentle and massaging them out/ finger detangling. I learn to schedule the appropriate amount of time for my hair. As far as dryness, I learned to listen to my hair and moisturize when needed. I also have to make sure that I use the correct moisturizing products and read ingredients so that I stray away from drying components.11. Is there a website/blog/Twitter/Instagram where we can find you?YouTube Channel:http://www.youtube.com/user/mizzcobiInstagram: mizzcobiFacebook:http://www.facebook.com/cobi13. Is there any other advice you’d like to leave us with?Listen to your hair! Good Hair is Healthy HairUntil next time,Screen-shot-2013-02-10-at-11.51.48-PM2
