Comparison is the Thief of Joy

I love this quote because it is something that has been on my heart for awhile. Living in a generation where we post every single thing we do, wear, and even eat on social media-- it is so easy get caught up comparing yourself to others. We look at other people's Instagram pages and think "they are happier than me, prettier than me, eat better food than me (lol), etc, etc." But first of all, you have to remember that people on social media only post the good things that go on in their life (as they should-- it is not a diary lol). It really is only perception and what they want you to see. So with that said, don't get misled into thinking someone else's life is perfect and your life is just terribleeee. And secondly, when we compare our lives to others, we miss out on what is right in front of us. Instead of counting how many shoes and cars someone else has, count your blessings. Giving thanks helps you to be appreciate what you have and make you content with your circumstances.I'll be honest, I got caught up in the comparison thing a little bit recently. Especially in the Blogging/YouTube/Social Media world it is really easy to compare because sometimes it might feel like the only way to be successful in this "industry" (or whatever you call it lol) is through "popularity" and connections. Sometimes it can feel like everyone is "ahead of you." But God kept telling me, "What I have for you, is for you." And what he was saying was that He has a will and plan for me, and every single one of us. Not one of our journeys is the same, even though we may cross paths from time to time. But nothing can stop His will for your life! And so we shouldn't worry what the other person is doing, because that is for them. God has something special for each of us. Even if you don't see it right now, just keep your eyes solely on Jesus and watch His will for your life unfold."Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:6.Xoxo,jesssig
